Day by day

Operator Itinerary

This is the operator’s indicative itinerary. The captain and cruise director may change the sequence according to conditions, safety and marine-park regulations.

Embarkation day — transfer to MARI, safety briefing, cabin orientation and dive setup. A check dive is scheduled when timing and conditions permit.

Core cruise days — generally three day dives plus a night dive where passage time, daylight, site regulations and conditions allow.

Final dive day — diving is reduced to preserve the required no-fly interval before disembarkation.

Exact sites and sequence are selected by the captain and Cruise Director and are not guaranteed.

Diving overview

MARI schedules up to four dives per day. Typical timings in the operator brochure are approximately 07:00, 10:00, 14:00 and 18:30 for a scheduled night dive.

The operator states a maximum dive time of 70 minutes and a maximum depth of 40 m, always subject to certification, experience, conditions and guide discretion.

Conditions and experience

Eastern Indonesia can involve current-swept channels, pinnacles, walls, blue-water crossings and variable water temperature.

Minimum Open Water plus 30 logged dives is the fleet-wide stated baseline; Komodo positioning recommends 60 logged dives. Final participation is at the Cruise Director’s discretion.

Underwater photography

Camera charging stations are provided and MARI’s small-group dive operation supports both wide-angle and macro photography.

Bring critical batteries, chargers, storage media, O-rings and spare parts because many itineraries are remote.

THE VESSEL

MARI Liveaboard

30 m traditional Indonesian Phinisi for up to 14 guests in seven ensuite seaview cabins, with three dive tenders, Nitrox, camera charging and spacious open-air decks.

MARI is a 30 m traditional Indonesian Phinisi built in 2008 from ironwood and teak for serious divers. She accommodates up to 14 guests in seven sea-view ensuite cabins and carries a 14-person crew.

Three open-air deck spaces, a 50 m² al fresco dining/bar area, sun deck, sky deck and shaded lounge create generous surface-interval space.

Dive operations use three dedicated tenders. Up to four dives per day are scheduled where the itinerary permits; 12 L and 15 L tanks are available, Nitrox is offered at additional cost, and camera charging stations are provided.

Dining & dietary needs

Three freshly prepared Indonesian-Western meals daily; coffee, tea, water and snacks included. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice. Soft drinks, juice and alcohol are extra.

Dive deck

Spacious dedicated dive deck; up to four dives daily where the itinerary allows. Max dive time stated as 70 minutes and max depth 40 m, subject to certification, conditions and guide discretion.

Dive tenders

Three fibreglass dinghies: two approximately 6.5 m / 40 HP Yamaha and one approximately 4 m / 15 HP Yamaha.

Camera facilities

Camera charging stations; bring critical batteries, storage media and spares for remote expeditions.

Rental equipment

Dive gear rental available by advance request. 12 L and limited 15 L tanks are available; 15 L carries an additional charge.

Safety equipment

Radar, echo sounder, GPS chartplotter, VHF & SSB radio, two life rafts, lifejackets, fire extinguishers, EPIRB, SART and satellite phone.
