The route

Route Overview

Explore Derawan and the Maratua region and Lembeh and North Sulawesi aboard Raja Ampat Aggressor on this 12-night voyage from Berau to Bitung.

The journey brings island reefs and marine encounters off East Kalimantan into one expedition. Each area adds a different underwater setting, from the shape of the reef to the animals that live around it.

Route & itinerary

Open each section to explore the programme and its diving areas. Day-by-day plans are indicative; the captain may adjust stops and timing for conditions, safety and park access. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.

Raja Ampat Aggressor explores the areas below on this 12-night expedition from Berau to Bitung. These sections describe the route’s settings and character; they do not assign unconfirmed stops to particular days.

Programme outline

Embark in Berau for the Derawan, North Sulawesi & Lembeh itinerary. The captain selects the daily dive programme according to sea conditions and crossing time.

The voyage finishes in Bitung. Check the confirmed boarding, transfer and final diving schedule when arranging onward travel.

Derawan and the Maratua region

This East Kalimantan itinerary is geographically separate from Raja Ampat, even when the vessel’s name includes Raja Ampat. The route centres on the Derawan region and its island reef environments. Compare the actual ports and programme rather than the boat’s name when choosing flights or a pre-cruise stay.

Lembeh and North Sulawesi

Lembeh changes the pace of a multi-region expedition. The focus moves from covering a reef to inspecting a small area carefully, often over dark sand and scattered structures. Routes extending through North Sulawesi can also include reef and island diving, so the strait is one chapter of a broader crossing rather than a description of every dive.

Life between the dives

Site briefings, equipment preparation and surface intervals give each diving day its rhythm. On a crossing, some of that time is spent travelling between island groups; a sailing day is not automatically a full diving day. The final dive schedule is coordinated with the return passage and the onward travel arrangements for the selected departure.
