The Banda Sea is one of the most remote and mythic marine territories on Earth. Known historically as the original "Spice Islands," this deep-water sea is home to isolated volcanic rings that rise from abyssal depths. In October, a rare oceanographic window opens: the waters become perfectly calm, and massive schooling schools of hundreds of Hammerhead Sharks migrate to the shallow sea mounts. Combined with pristine walls covered in giant hard corals and a rich colonial history, this is the ultimate blue-water expedition for seasoned divers and luxury travelers alike.

🗺️ DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

🛫 DAY 1: Gathering in Jakarta & Flying East

• For Everyone: The expedition group meets at Jakarta International Airport (CGK). We board our comfortable overnight domestic flight together to Ambon – the gateway to the Maluku Islands.

🛥️ DAY 2: The Ocean Crossing to the Spice Islands

• For Everyone: Land in Ambon at sunrise. A private air-conditioned minibus transfers the crew to the harbor. We board our private, high-speed closed speedboat for an epic 5-hour ocean crossing across the Banda Sea directly to Banda Neira.

• Evening: Check-in at our premium beachfront resort. Welcome dinner under the stars. Bonus: Late afternoon check-dive/dusk dive right at the resort's pier to witness the mating ritual of the colorful Mandarin Fish.

🌋 DAY 3: The Volcano's Edge & Mandarin Reef

• Divers (3 Dives): Diving the famous Lava Flow – a unique dive site where an underwater coral garden has grown over the black volcanic lava from the 1988 eruption at incredible speed. Followed by Banda House Reef.

• Non-Divers (Snorkel & Spa): Guided snorkeling over the shallow Lava Flow reef (exceptional visibility), followed by your first traditional Moluccan massage at the spa.

🦈 DAY 4: HAMMERHEAD SAFARI – Day 1 (Pulau Hatta)

• Divers (3 Dives): Early morning departure for Karang Hatta – a submerged sea mount dropping straight down to 2,000 meters. We hook onto the reef edge in the current and wait for massive schools of Scalloped Hammerhead Sharks to rise from the deep blue.

• Non-Divers (Snorkel & Spa): Boat excursion to Hatta Island. Enjoy a private beach picnic under the palms and guided snorkeling over the island’s drop-offs.

🚢 DAY 5: Historical Exploration of Banda Neira

• For Everyone (Joint Terrestrial Day): A fascinating land day exploring Banda Neira’s history. We visit the 17th-century Dutch fortress Fort Belgica, walk through ancient nutmeg and cinnamon plantations, and learn how this tiny island was once traded by the British for Manhattan, New York. Traditional dinner infused with local spices.

⚓ DAY 6: The Abyssal Walls of Pulau Ai

• Divers (3 Dives): High-energy wall diving at Pulau Ai. Incredible visibility (40m+) with schools of giant trevally, barracudas, and resident oceanic whitetip sharks cruising the walls.

• Non-Divers (Snorkel & Spa): Snorkeling and sea kayaking around the dramatic karst limestone cliffs of Pulau Ai. Second premium deep-tissue massage in the evening.

🦈 DAY 7: HAMMERHEAD SAFARI – Day 2 (The Deep Blue)

• Divers (3 Dives): Returning to Karang Hatta for our second dedicated shark tracking day. Currents shift throughout the day, maximizing our chances for wide-angle photography of the hammerhead schools.

• Non-Divers (Snorkel & Spa): Private cooking masterclass with the resort’s head chef, learning to cook traditional Ikan Kuah Pala (seafood soup with fresh nutmeg and coconut milk).

🏖️ DAY 8: The Secluded Sands of Pulau Run

• Divers (3 Dives): Diving Batu Kapal (The Ship Rock) – an advanced open-ocean pinnacle shaped like a ship. Home to intense currents, massive schools of surgeonfish, dogtooth tuna, and deep-water sharks.

• Non-Divers (Snorkel & Spa): Third premium massage + guided afternoon paddleboarding (SUP) session in the calm, turquoise bay of the resort.

🐬 DAY 10: The Giant Marine Mammals

• Divers (2 Dives): Two final deep wall dives around the outer islands.

🛑 DAY 11: The Ocean Crossing Back to Ambon

🏛️ DAY 12: Mandatory Terrestrial Day – Ambon Culture Tour

• For Everyone: A relaxed overland day in Ambon. We visit the historic Fort Amsterdam, swim in the clear freshwater pools of Pintu Kota (The City Gate) rock formation, and shop for local spices, pearls, and clove souvenirs. Final group dinner.

🛫 DAY 13: Flight Back to Jakarta

• For Everyone: Private transfer to Ambon Airport (AMQ) for our flight back to Jakarta (CGK), connecting smoothly with international flights back home to Europe. End of services.
