Overview

Bastianos Bunaken Dive Resort sits on Bunaken Island in North Sulawesi, giving divers direct boat access to the steep coral walls, clear water and turtle-rich reefs of Bunaken National Marine Park. The full-board resort has 28 rooms across four categories, a swimming pool, restaurant and beachfront sunset setting.

Bastianos Divers has been a PADI member dive centre since 2004. The Bunaken operation uses modern dive boats, small guide groups of up to four divers, oxygen on every boat, a drying room and a dedicated air-conditioned camera room. The resort works well for experienced reef divers, photographers, couples and mixed diver/non-diver groups who want an easy island-based programme.

Dietary requirements should be shared before arrival. Compulsory Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve dinner supplements may apply and are confirmed in the personalised quote.

Beyond diving

Non-divers can enjoy the pool, beachfront setting, restaurant, sunsets and snorkeling from scheduled dive boats. Optional land experiences include a short Tongkaina mangrove tarsier excursion and a full-day Minahasa Highlands tour.

The combination of island relaxation, wildlife excursions and coordinated multi-resort transfers makes Bastianos Bunaken suitable for couples and groups with different interests.

Getting there

Bastianos arranges coordinated car-and-boat transfers from Manado Airport, as well as boat-only transfers. Standard rates require a minimum of two guests and apply during regular hours from 08:00 to 17:00. Flight details, luggage and final meeting arrangements are required.

Two- and three-resort itineraries combining Bunaken with Bastianos Bangka and/or Lembeh can be arranged via the mainland or by boat. Outside-hours and non-standard pick-up or drop-off surcharges may apply.

Dives per day

Up to 3 regular scheduled boat dives per day, with early-morning, Mandarin or night dives available by arrangement

Dive programme

Bunaken diving centres on dramatic walls, coral gardens and abundant green and hawksbill turtles, together with schooling reef fish, tuna, barracuda, reef sharks and macro life. Two morning dives normally depart together, followed by an afternoon dive. Early-morning, Mandarin-fish and night dives can be requested.

Fun dives include the boat, air tank, weights, towel, snacks, coffee, tea, water and fruit, with a guide ratio of up to four guests per dive guide. Maximum planned dive time is 70 minutes including the safety stop, or until 50 bar. The Bunaken Marine Park fee, Nitrox, rental equipment and special-dive supplements are additional.

Nitrox

Nitrox fills are available for certified Enriched Air divers at EUR 6 per dive. A PADI Enriched Air Diver dry course is also available for guests aged 12 or over.

House reef

Bastianos Bunaken operates its diving by boat; the published Bastianos rate information states that guided shore house-reef dives are offered only at the Bangka and Lembeh resorts.

Photography facilities

A spacious air-conditioned camera room is located close to the boats. Private workstations provide multiple international power sockets, desk lighting, padded neoprene work mats and drying towels for underwater camera preparation and storage.

Dive boats carry dedicated camera rinse water, and small guide groups can support photographers. Private guiding can be requested subject to availability.
