The expedition

Expedition Overview

Tubbataha is one of the Philippines’ most remote and important marine ecosystems. Located approximately 100 miles southeast of Puerto Princesa, the protected area encompasses the North and South Atolls and Jessie Beazley Reef.

This seven-night round-trip expedition aboard Atlantis Infiniti is designed for experienced divers seeking extensive coral reefs, steep walls, schooling fish, sharks and encounters with open-ocean pelagic species.

The itinerary is intentionally flexible. The captain and cruise director select the most appropriate dive sites according to weather, currents, visibility and park regulations. Exact dive sites and their order cannot be guaranteed.

Day by day

Indicative Itinerary

The itinerary is expeditionary rather than fixed. The captain and cruise director may change the sequence according to conditions, safety and marine-park regulations.

Day 1 — Puerto Princesa embarkation

Board Atlantis Infiniti in Puerto Princesa at approximately 17:00. Complete check-in, safety briefing, equipment preparation and expedition orientation. The vessel begins the overnight crossing to Tubbataha.

Day 2 — North Atoll

Arrival at Tubbataha and the first diving day around the North Atoll. The programme may include walls, coral slopes and current-influenced sites selected according to conditions.

Day 3 — North Atoll

A full day of diving around the North Atoll. Representative sites may include Amos Rock, Shark Airport, Washing Machine and the Malayan Wreck area.

Day 4 — South Atoll

The vessel relocates to the South Atoll for wall diving, coral gardens, schooling fish and possible encounters with reef sharks and pelagic species.

Day 5 — South Atoll

A second day exploring the South Atoll. Representative areas may include Delsan Wreck, Black Rock, T Wreck and Staghorn Point, depending on park conditions.

Day 6 — Jessie Beazley Reef

Diving around Jessie Beazley Reef when weather and sea conditions permit. The exposed reef is known for healthy coral, steep drop-offs and open-ocean marine life.

Day 7 — Final dives and return passage

The cruise director selects the strongest available sites for the final dives. Atlantis Infiniti then begins the return crossing to Puerto Princesa.

Day 8 — Puerto Princesa disembarkation

Arrival and disembarkation in Puerto Princesa at approximately 07:00.

This is an indicative expedition plan. Dive sites, sequence and number of dives are determined by the captain and cruise director and may change because of weather, currents, safety considerations or park regulations.

Diving Tubbataha

Diving overview

Tubbataha offers remote blue-water diving on coral walls, reef plateaus and current-influenced open-ocean sites. Diving is generally conducted from tenders, allowing the team to enter close to the selected site and be collected after the dive.

The expedition normally aims for approximately 18 dives, but the final number depends on crossing conditions, weather, currents and park restrictions. Night diving is offered only when the location and conditions are considered suitable.

Divers should be comfortable with negative entries, drift diving, variable currents, blue-water safety procedures and deployments of a surface marker buoy.

Conditions and experience

Remote open-ocean diving with generally clear water and visibility commonly around 20–40 metres. Currents can range from mild to strong and may change quickly around reef corners and exposed walls.

Surface conditions during the crossing and at exposed dive sites can vary. This route is best suited to confident divers with experience in drift diving and blue-water procedures.

Underwater photography

Tubbataha is especially strong for wide-angle photography, including reef walls, schooling fish, sharks, rays and extensive hard-coral formations.

Atlantis Infiniti has a dedicated camera room with individual workstations and charging facilities. Photographers should bring all essential equipment, spare parts and storage media because replacements cannot normally be obtained during the expedition.

A spacious blue-water-rated Philippines liveaboard for up to 25 guests, with 11 en-suite cabins, dedicated underwater photography facilities and itineraries across Tubbataha and the Visayas.

Atlantis Infiniti is a purpose-designed, blue-water-rated liveaboard operated by Atlantis Dive Resorts & Liveaboards in the Philippines. Accommodating up to 25 guests across 11 en-suite cabins, the vessel combines the capacity required for group expeditions with the established diving service, hospitality and photography support associated with Atlantis.

Infiniti operates seasonal itineraries through Tubbataha and the Visayas. Divers are supported by internationally certified dive professionals, spacious equipment areas, zodiac tenders and a dedicated camera room with charging facilities.

The vessel is particularly suitable for experienced divers, underwater photographers, private groups and guests wishing to combine a liveaboard itinerary with a land-based stay at Atlantis Dumaguete or Atlantis Puerto Galera.

Dining & dietary needs

Freshly prepared meals and snacks are served throughout the charter. An all-day snack and refreshment area is available, and dietary requirements can be accommodated when advised in advance.

Local soft drinks, coffee, tea, filtered water and social servings of local beer, wine and rum are included. Guests may bring personal beverages aboard without a corkage fee.

Dive deck

Atlantis Infiniti has a spacious dive deck designed for comfortable preparation and equipment handling. Every diver receives an individual equipment storage area. Fresh hot-water showers are available on the rear platform, and dives are conducted from zodiac tender boats for short transfers and controlled entries at the dive sites.

Dive tenders

Diving is conducted from zodiac tender boats, allowing short transfers and accurate drop-off and pick-up positioning at the dive sites.

Nitrox

Nitrox is available on all charters. The vessel uses a Nuvair membrane system with dedicated air and Nitrox storage.

Rental equipment

The vessel carries selected spare dive equipment but does not operate a complete onboard rental service. For charters departing from Dumaguete, rental equipment can be arranged in advance through the Atlantis Dumaguete dive centre.
