📋 EXPEDITION OVERVIEW

Sipadan Island is legendary. Jacques Cousteau famously described it as "an untouched piece of art," and it remains one of the top-ranked dive destinations in the world. Due to strict conservation efforts, the Malaysian government limits access through a highly regulated permit system. Our expedition guarantees 2 full days of diving at Sipadan. We base this journey on the private island of Mataking—a luxury sanctuary of white sand and turquoise lagoons. This expedition offers a perfect balance: adrenaline-fueled encounters with massive "tornadoes" of barracudas and hundreds of sea turtles at Sipadan, combined with world-class macro diving at Mabul and Kapalai islands.

🗺️ DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

🛫 DAY 1: Journey to the Celebes Sea

• For Everyone: The expedition group meets at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) for our domestic flight to Tawau (Borneo). Upon landing, a private VIP van transfers us to Semporna harbor, followed by a 45-minute speedboat crossing to the private island of Mataking.

• Evening: Welcome dinner at the resort’s beachfront restaurant. Briefing on the week's Sipadan permit schedule.

🐠 DAY 2: House Reef & Traditional Malay Massage

• Divers (2 Dives): Morning check-dives at the Mataking House Reef. Explore the sunken "Underwater Post Office" (where you can actually mail a postcard) and encounter resident giant turtles.

• Non-Divers (Snorkel & Spa): Guided snorkeling over the resort’s vibrant house reef, followed by your first traditional Malaysian massage using aromatic oils.

🌪️ DAY 3: SIPADAN EXPEDITION – DAY 1 (Barracuda Point)

• Divers (3 Dives): Our first dedicated day at Sipadan Island. We dive the world-famous Barracuda Point to witness thousands of chevron barracudas forming a massive swirling "tornado." Followed by Turtle Tomb and South Point.

• Non-Divers (Snorkel & Island Hop): Guided snorkeling around the crystal-clear waters of Pom Pom Island, including a visit to the island’s turtle hatchery to see baby turtle conservation in action.

🦐 DAY 4: Macro Wonders of Kapalai

• Divers (3 Dives): Diving the specialized macro sites of Kapalai Island. This stilt-village resort is built over a shallow reef that hides Frogfish, Blue-Ringed Octopuses, and flamboyant cuttlefish.

• Non-Divers (Snorkel & Spa): Private Malaysian culinary workshop at the resort. Learn how to prepare authentic Satay and Nasi Lemak.

🧱 DAY 5: SIPADAN EXPEDITION – DAY 2 (The Drop Off)

• Divers (3 Dives): Our second day at Sipadan. We dive The Drop Off—a vertical wall starting at 5 meters and plunging to 600 meters. Expect to see dozens of green sea turtles and huge schools of bumphead parrotfish.

• Non-Divers (Snorkel & Spa): A second spa session featuring a premium volcanic body scrub + paddleboarding (SUP) in the Mataking lagoon.

🐚 DAY 6: The Famous Mabul Island

• Divers (3 Dives): Exploring the reefs around Mabul Island. Famous for its mix of biodiversity and "muck" diving on sandy slopes.

• Non-Divers (Snorkel & Spa): Cultural visit to the local Bajau village on Mabul to see the traditional life of the "Sea Gypsies."

🐒 DAY 7: The Orangutans of Borneo

• For Everyone (Optional Terrestrial Add-on): A break from the water. Premium Add-on: Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary. A specialized day trip involving a short flight to Sandakan to visit the world-renowned rehabilitation center for orphaned wild Orangutans and Sun Bears.

• For those staying on the island: Relaxed beach day on Mataking’s famous long sandspit.

⚓ DAY 8: The Abyssal Walls of Siamil

• Divers (3 Dives): Heading out to the more remote Siamil Island. Known for its steep walls, exceptional visibility, and frequent sightings of eagle rays and devil rays.

• Non-Divers (Snorkel & Spa): Third premium body massage + sunset yoga session on the beach.

🦐 DAY 9: The Ghost Pipefish Quest

• Divers (3 Dives): Final macro dives around Mataking and Pandanan Island, searching for ornate ghost pipefish and seahorses.

• 🎒 Premium Add-on: Bajau Laut Cultural Photo-Safari. A private boat expedition to meet the nomadic sea gypsies who live in stilt houses in the middle of the ocean.

🛑 DAY 10: Final Sunsets & Start of No-Fly Window

• Divers (2 Dives): Two final morning dives to conclude the underwater itinerary. At 1:00 PM, the 24-hour No-Fly window begins. Gear washing and drying.

• Non-Divers: Relaxation by the pool and a sunset cocktail farewell session.

• For Everyone: A grand farewell gala dinner on the beach with live music and a traditional Malay fire show.

⛰️ DAY 11: The Peaks of Tun Sakaran (No-Fly Window)

• For Everyone (Joint Terrestrial Day): We visit the Tun Sakaran Marine Park. We hike to the top of Bohey Dulang peak (a moderate 30-minute trek) for the iconic panoramic view of the volcanic lagoon. This is the most photographed spot in Sabah.

🛫 DAY 12: Return to Kuala Lumpur

• For Everyone: The No-Fly window concludes. Speedboat back to Semporna and transfer to Tawau Airport for our domestic flight back to Kuala Lumpur. Check-in at a luxury 5-star hotel in the city.

🏛️ DAY 13: Homeward Bound

• For Everyone: Private transfer to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) for your international flights back home to Europe. End of services.
