Angel Reef is one of Moyo’s clearest examples of why the island works so well for reef-focused diving. The site combines a shallow coral platform with a steep outer face, allowing divers to start deeper along the wall and gradually finish over brighter, shallower reef.

Large gorgonians and barrel sponges add structure, while schools of reef fish, turtles and occasional blacktip reef sharks may appear around the drop-off. Depth can extend well beyond a typical recreational plan, so the best profile is not to chase the bottom but to choose a sensible depth band and use the reef contour for a slow multilevel ascent.

Blue Emocean Reef is a mixed-profile site where coral structure and open-water potential share the same dive. The upper reef begins around the low teens and drops toward 30 metres, with moderate current often turning the route into a gentle drift.

Reef sharks are among the larger animals associated with the site, while smaller subjects such as blue-ringed octopus reward divers who keep some attention on the reef itself. Mantas and sunfish are reported possibilities rather than guaranteed encounters. The most balanced dive keeps the group close to the coral, lets the current set the pace and finishes shallower instead of spending the full dive at the deeper edge.

River Mouth is one of Moyo’s more relaxed dives, built around sandy bottom and coral rather than strong current or dramatic wall exposure. The combination creates good habitat for blue-spotted stingrays and cuttlefish while still providing the reef scenery expected from the island.

Current is normally mild, so divers can move slowly and search the sand-coral boundary instead of covering distance. Although published depth extends toward 30 metres, there is little reason for a newer diver to push the deepest section when the same habitat can be enjoyed shallower. It works particularly well as an easy first dive, a photography session or a lower-stress profile after a deeper wall.

Octopus Garden mixes coral heads, rock and open sand across a broad recreational depth range. That variety makes the dive productive for both general reef observation and slower macro-style searching, with octopus, rays and turtles among the headline possibilities.

Current is usually mild enough that photographers can stop without immediately losing the group, while the shallow section provides a long, bright finish. The site does not depend on one landmark or rare animal; its strength is the number of small habitats packed into one route. A good plan moves deepest first, then spends the second half working gradually through the shallower coral garden.

Crocodile Head is a more topographic Moyo dive, with coral gardens giving way to steeper drop-offs and moderate tidal flow. Juvenile blacktip reef sharks are among the site’s best-known larger animals, while rays, turtles, groupers and dense reef fish can all use the same structure.

The current adds energy without making the site a pure high-speed drift, but entry direction should still follow the guide’s tide plan. Divers get the most from the site by staying close to the reef, where the coral provides both shelter and visual reference. The deeper edge is optional; the site remains rewarding within a straightforward recreational depth range.

Amanwana Bay sits inside Moyo’s protected coastal waters and offers one of the destination’s most flexible profiles. Gently sloping reef, sandy patches and steeper sections can all be combined in a single dive, with hard and soft coral supporting fusiliers and the normal mix of tropical reef fish.

Turtles are regular possibilities, while reef sharks and barracuda may pass along the deeper edge. Current is often mild but can build with the tide, so the exact route changes from day to day. The bay is also used for night diving, when the emphasis shifts from wide reef scenery to the smaller animals active after dark.

Tanjung Pasir combines coral reef with sandy bottom and rocky outcrops, giving the dive more habitat variety than a simple wall or slope. Schools of tropical fish occupy the reef while the more open sections create occasional chances for larger passing animals.

Mild current makes the site approachable for intermediate divers and allows time to inspect the reef instead of treating the dive as a fast drift. Depth ranges broadly from the shallows toward 30 metres, so groups can tailor the route to experience rather than forcing everyone into the same profile. The strongest plan uses the deeper section early and reserves plenty of time for the brighter upper reef.

Satonda adds a volcanic-island dive to a Moyo itinerary and is especially attractive to divers who enjoy looking closely rather than chasing big animals. The reef drops through coral and mixed substrate into the 20–30 metre range, while nudibranchs, ghost pipefish, seahorses, frogfish and small cephalopods are among the reported subjects.

Current is generally mild enough for an unhurried search, and the shallow reef gives photographers a long final section with good natural light. Because Satonda is a separate island from Moyo, it works best as a dedicated excursion rather than a quick local boat dive, with the exact site chosen around sea conditions.
